After a nationwide search, Waxhaw’s Town Board is pleased to announce Mr. Greg Ferguson as its selection for the position of Town Manager.
Ferguson, has over 22 years of municipal government experience. Most recently, Ferguson was Town Manager of the Town of Huntersville, North Carolina.
Ferguson will manage the Town of Waxhaw’s organization at a time of continual and tremendous population growth, and the challenges associated with it. He will be leading an outstanding staff to achieve the vision and goals put forth by the Waxhaw Town Board. Ferguson’s experience in fiscal and operational municipal management, along with regional solutions to growth challenges will be valuable to the Town of Waxhaw as it continues to respond and plan for growth, while keeping an important eye on the financial bottom line. “I am impressed with the solid foundation that Waxhaw has developed to respond to growth,” Ferguson said. “The Board and staff have positioned the town to do well in the future. I am excited to be a part of the town organization.”
Ferguson is a native of Jefferson, Georgia. He began his career as the Town Manager of Louisa, Virginia in 1994. In 2000, he was named Assistant Town Manager for Huntersville, and assumed the Town Manager’s position in July 2007, serving through January 2017.
Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia and a Master of Public Affairs from UNC - Greensboro. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Municipal Administration Course and the Public Executive Leadership Academy at the UNC School of Government, and completed the ICMA Performance Based Assessment – School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University.
Ferguson is married to his wife Jamie. They are the parents of two children, Coleman, age 15 and Winston, age 12.
