Recreation Programs

THROUGH MAY 31, 2020
Since we are unaware of what the future holds for new social distancing and sanitation requirements at events and recreational programs due to the impact of COVID-19 on our state and community, the Town of Waxhaw will be cancelling or postponing all Parks & Recreation programs, events and rentals through May 31, 2020. This includes our concerts in May and the spring Kaleidoscope Fest scheduled for May 16th. Our hope is the delay will allow us to reevaluate our events and programs with new guidance so they continue to be a safe gathering place for citizens to come together and recreate in a safe, fun and affordable way. Anyone who has already registered for programs and events through the end of May will be receiving refunds. A reminder that Town of Waxhaw government buildings remain closed until further notice in response to government recommendations for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Staff is working remotely and you are able to reach us by phone or email.

Recreation programming is growing everyday through department efforts and key partnerships!

In a town-wide survey about Parks & Recreation services, Waxhaw residents indicated strong interest in regular programming from the Town. In response, the department is creating youth programs, teen nights and activities, adult programs and trips , senior fitness classes and social hours.  During the summer, we will also be offering Fun Days in the Park activities.

On our quest to champion quality of life initiatives that unmistakably reflect the unique character of Waxhaw, the department will proudly partner with local and regional organizations such as the Carolina Thread Trail, Waxhaw Athletic Association, local business owners and more to provide these new programs.
