Downtown Park Master Plan Update | January 20, 2021

In 2017, the Town of Waxhaw completed a master plan for the David G. Barnes Park and Horton Property with the vision of creating an expanded park for Downtown. Since then, the Town has experienced changes in demographics, increased population, and a slight shift in the vision for the Downtown Park which includes an adjunct space, Community Corner. In the Comprehensive Parks Master Plan, the 9.9 acres of land owned by the town has been identified as the top priority to develop into a neighborhood park. This year, the Town of Waxhaw intends to apply for grant funding to assist with the development of the first phase of the Downtown Park.

During the second public input session on Friday, January 15th, the draft concept plan was provided to the community for feedback. Please see the photos below from the event; all attendees were required to wear masks and encouraged to social distance.

At the upcoming Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, January 26th at 6:30 PM, the Downtown Park master plan update will be presented for approval.
