The Town of Waxhaw is pleased to announce that we are about to embark upon the first major phase in our recently upgraded recycling program. In accordance with the new contract, RCS has ordered the 96 gallon recycling carts and expects delivery of these on Monday, January 15, 2018. Assembly of these units will commence immediately upon arrival and distribution to the approximately 5,900 homes that we presently service is planned to begin by mid-week. All new recycling units will be brown in color and will complement our new branding program. Notifications complete with calendars and detailed explanation of the recycling program changes will be delivered along with the new carts. Old recycling bins will be given to current homeowners to use or discard at their discretion.
In addition to the upgraded recycling service, RCS will be making changes to our current service schedule. Instead of the entire town having the one day (Friday) weekly service that we currently have, RCS will be dividing the town into three strategic zones and each zone will have its own specific day for service. One zone each will be serviced on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday every week.
**Locations of each zone will be detailed HERE.
These zone changes will allow for more efficient and consistent removal of all discarded materials. In addition, it will allow for the continued future growth that we currently anticipate. At this time, RCS expects to begin the new zone schedule on Wednesday, February 7th with Zone 1, Thursday, Feb. 8th with Zone 2 and Friday, Feb. 9th for Zone 3. As with the upgraded recycling program, a detailed calendar and notification of assigned zone and schedule will be delivered to each home.
We feel that these upgrades will help enable us to continue with our mission to provide the most efficient and best possible service to the citizens of Waxhaw.
