Parking Improvements Continue in Downtown Waxhaw

The Town of Waxhaw has continued to address parking needs in the downtown. New spaces are currently being added to the Nivens-Price lot. The Town has added two new public parking lots in the past year and a half. One is on the south side of the tracks and one is on the north side. These new lots have collectively added 50 spaces to the downtown parking inventory. In addition, improvements have occurred at the Niven-Price Parking Lot.

Wayfinding signs have also been added and/or modified throughout the downtown to make it easier for residents and visitors to find existing parking. While preliminary results show that parking has increased and supply has increased, we are not yet approaching the 85% threshold that is typically considered “full.” Staff will continue to monitor parking and update counts from the 2016 Downtown Parking Study by counting cars on various days and times throughout the week.
