Waxhaw, N.C. (September 12, 2019) – The Town of Waxhaw Planning Department will be hosting public input sessions to gather feedback from residents regarding Waxhaw’s strategic growth plans. The sessions will be held in the Niven Price Building (216 West North Main Street, Downtown Waxhaw, NC) on Thursday, September 26th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and Thursday, October 24th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Residents are encouraged to drop in at any time during the session time slots for a self-guided tour through interactive learning stations. The sessions will be kid friendly.
The Planning Department plans to gather input on locally desired growth patterns using displays, surveys, and interactive maps. They will also inform residents on current demographic trends and local land use patterns while collecting opinions on desired land uses in Waxhaw to live, shop, work, and play.
Following the first public input session, the Planning Department will strategize on ways to accommodate the evolving needs and wants of residents. Staff plans to review the summary of findings to the Board at the October 22nd Board of Commissioners meeting.
The October 24th public input session will then include a summary from the first session, as well as a presentation on preferred goals, strategies, and growth scenarios. Attendees can provide input on concepts presented, and inform on next steps.
