WAXHAW, N.C. - MAY 26, 2021 – Owner Frank LaFragola is expanding on his home turf of Waxhaw with his third Jekyll & Hyde restaurant. The STEAMpunkt inspired grill and taphouse will be located in an historic building dating back to 1913, located right in the heart of this burgeoning area at 216 N. Main Street.
Waxhaw will mark perhaps the most intriguing offering for LaFragola and his team who launched their first venue just over four years ago in Matthews. They unveiled a second location in downtown Belmont last year. Despite the storm of the pandemic, Jekyll & Hyde has become a popular fixture in both of these settings.
“Waxhaw is home to us, and we love the opportunity that this historic building brings for us to do some very creative things,” said LaFragola. “Our taphouse grills and their spaces tell stories and bring a bit of fun to the experiences enjoyed by our customers. The restored Niven-Price building has tremendous character and is the perfect place for an experiential restaurant like Jekyll & Hyde.”
LaFragola’s plans for the 4800 square foot restaurant include a circular bar and a rooftop complete with a fiery fountain. Servers will be clad in period attire matching the STEAMpunkt theme adding to the flavor of the taphouse and grill.
Jekyll & Hyde’s menu combines traditional and not so traditional English/Irish/American dishes served in a fun, pub-like atmosphere. A collection of 10 beers brewed by Jekyll & Hyde will be offered in addition to dishes like Sheppard’s pie, fish and chips and homemade bread pudding. Other signatures include CAB center cut steaks, CAB hand pattied burgers and tasty flatbreads made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The grill will also serve a variety of salads and appetizers, a full drink menu with craft cocktails, and brunches each Saturday and Sunday.
LaFragola and his team will introduce a brand-new collection of liquors ranging from vodka, gin and rum to bourbon and moonshine in Waxhaw as well. “Distilled in Waxhaw, these spirits will be another great reason to come to Jekyll & Hyde whether for dinner or an afternoon drink,” added LaFragola. The distillery will be add another compelling visual to Jekyll & Hyde in Waxhaw just as the brewery has in its Belmont restaurant.
Once open, Jekyll & Hyde will host numerous themed events aligned with both holidays and periodic creative specials. LaFragola and his team look forward to hosting numerous events in conjunction with the Town of Waxhaw and other local businesses. Jekyll & Hyde has become a anchor for community events in both Matthews and Belmont and intends to do the same thing in Waxhaw.
“We cannot wait to open and to become a part of the Waxhaw community,” shared LaFragola. This place is going to be a lot of fun.”
