Have you ever wondered about the inner workings of local government? Apply to participate in Waxhaw 101 and learn about town departments and functions that help make Waxhaw a great place to live. In Waxhaw 101 we will discuss town management and tour the Police Department. You will receive a broad overview of how Waxhaw's local government works for you!
Why Participate?
Throughout this program you will learn about your town's government, how it works and how it impacts your community.
You will also be able to take that knowledge back to your neighbors and have the ability to be an effective leader in your neighborhood. Lastly, you will be able to take this knowledge back to your business or civic organization and when there are questions that you need answered from the Town, you will know the right person to call.
Are You Eligible?
To be selected, you must be willing to commit the time to this informative and interesting program. The Town of Waxhaw will strive for diverse participation in this program. Class size is limited to the first 35 participants. Refreshments and a light dinner will be provided.
What is the Cost?
There is no cost to Waxhaw citizens who attend the sessions.
Interested in Applying?
Waxhaw 101 is a citizens' academy designed to educate residents about our local government processes and provide an engaging, well-diverse, and interactive program. Appointed Town Officials, Department Directors, and other Town Staff will host 10 weeks of unique and informative sessions giving residents a hands-on experience in our town's government operations. If you are interested in applying, please complete and submit this application no later than August 16, 2024. Waxhaw 101 is available to town residents and business owners with priority given to town residents. Applicants will be notified by August 21, 2024, of their application status. Please complete this application fully if you would like to be considered. Incomplete applications may not be considered. 2024 Waxhaw 101 begins August 28th and concludes October 30th.
