Carolina Thread Trail The Carolina Thread Trail (The Thread) is an exciting project that’s creating a regional network of greenways, trails and blueways that reaches 15 counties, 2 states and 2.3 million people. There are 141 miles of The Thread open to the public – linking people, places, cities, towns and attractions.
The Thread preserves our natural areas and is a place for exploration of nature, culture, science and history. This is a landmark project that provides public and community benefits for everyone, in every community. The Thread is providing a community and conservation legacy that will give so much, to so many, for so long.
Town Creek Park is Home to the Paved Section of the Twelve Mile Creek Greenway.
Cross-State Suspension Bridge
Waxhaw is home to the Carolina Thread Trail's signature Cross-State Suspension Bridge! To access a natural surface trail leading to the bridge, travel to the back of H.C. Nesbit Park and park at the kiosk. From there, you will enjoy a 1/4 mile hike to a breathtaking 170 foot long suspension bridge. Not only will you cross the state line into South Carolina, but you will have the ability to continue on for 3 1/2 miles of additional natural surface trail fun. The trail can be hiked and acts as an advanced mountain biking venue. Leashed pets are permitted.
