Just minutes from downtown Waxhaw is Union County's Cane Creek Park, a family-oriented, water-based recreation space that encompasses 1,050 acres of land surrounding a 350-acre lake. The park provides a natural and scenic environment for a variety of outdoor activities and peaceful relaxation year-round. The lake is home to some of the best largemouth bass fishing in the state as well as bluegill, crappie and catfish. Cane Creek Park offers a day use area with lake beach access, swimming, pedal boats, mini golf and picnic areas. Cane Creek also has 108 campsites with water, electric and some sewer hook-ups, in addition to wilderness and group camping and rustic cabins.
